Trouble in the Wild, Wild, West
Letter to the Romans
The Apostle Paul wrote a letter to the Christians in Rome, Italy, about 24 years after Jesus was crucified, died and rose to life again. To listen to Dave's song click on the play button.
Persecution
The song talks about a time of persecution for those Christians. Christians all around the world today are persecuted for their faith too – persecution can be anything from name calling and bullying (you might have gone through some of this, as I have) to being treated badly, tortured, put in prison or even killed in some parts of the world.
In Matthew 5 verses 10 – 12, Jesus says that we will be blessed, with a reward in Heaven, when we are persecuted for following Him. They did the same things to the prophets in the Old Testament.
When I started work, my workmates said things about me because I was a Christian but eventually they started asking questions about my faith.
If you are getting picked on for being a Christian, or for anything else, it is important to tell an adult you trust so they can help you and perhaps pray with you about it. If you’d like me to pray too, then please email me.
Romans 8 verse 35
The chorus of the song is based on Romans 8 verse 35. It talks about the fact that absolutely nothing can separate us from Jesus’ love. Jesus is reigning as King in Heaven so He is in charge. He is powerful so we can know that Romans 8 verse 35 is true because He is alive… Jesus beat even death when He rose to life again so it has no power over us to separate us from Jesus and His love.
God Loves Me… Challenge
You could never come up with enough great words to describe how much God loves you because He loves you more than words could tell, but it might be fun trying!
Make a list of words to describe how God loves you. You might need to look in a dictionary or a thesaurus for some help or get your Christian friends or family involved and ask them what words they would use.
Here’s a few to start you off:-
God loves me …
- amazingly
- ecstatically
- wonderfully
Never Alone
Even when things get tough, Jesus promises to always be with us so we will never be alone. As another one of Dave’s songs In the Jungle says, ‘He’s walking in the jungle with me!’ Life can seem a bit like a walk in the jungle sometimes – scary and tough going – but Jesus will be with us through it all.
If you really liked In the Jungle you can still get it - there’s a new version of it on Dave’s newest CD Zoom.
Paul’s Travels Pie Out Challenge

Can you work out which of the places Paul's journeys did take him to, without visiting the places he didn't?
